A. SCS Discipline Meeting Update - Santos
Santos-good meeting, focused on Tier 3 students and interventions needed to support them. Reviewed the folder with the discipline flowchart, and decided that we need to go deeper for tier 3 students. We need to clarify interventions and will meet over the summer to do this to make sure that staff and students understand expectations. Over the summer SCS will meet once or twice to decide:
1) The discipline plan and how the staff will introduce it the first week(lesson plans).
2) interventions for tier 3 students.
Comments:
Spaniol-need to provide more than planner at the beginning of year. We should review Roosevelt expectations for at least the first week.
Christensen-models on Rootube of expected behavior
Ehrlich/Jay-what do we do for kids with repeat suspensions?
Santos-the big picture is how we're addressing all these students. The expulsion process is very lengthy and the school must show that many interventions have been implemented.
Croom-concerned about lack of equity with a case-by-case basis for consequences of behavior.
Abts-100% of staff must be supportive of the discipline plan for it to work.
Croom-The case by case basis is only for tier 3 students.
Santos-By meeting during the summer, we can address the gray areas of the discipline plan.
Jay/Ehrlich-should discipline plan be brought to SGT first, before going to staff?
Garcia-Recommends SGT meeting the first day back, to review policy.
Dudley-staff may need to be trained on communicating with parents
B. Master Schedule 2010-2011 – Next Steps - Carmen
78% of staff voted for 7 period day. Waiver goes to SDEA board tomorrow. Carmen and district believes that a waiver is not necessary. SDEA has not approved a waiver over the past several years. If the waiver is not approved by SDEA board, we will go forward with the 7 period day as the arbitration process proceeds.
SGT needs to vote on approval of 7 period day for the waiver to be filed.
Union rep, admin and SGT needs to approve waiver process for waiver to go forward to board.
Secret ballot held:
Yes-15
No-1
Ehrlich and Jay will sign the waiver.
C. Memo from Joellen: Grades due on 6/18 for 6th and 7th grade-Abts
Grades can be submitted as late as 6/21, but there will be no verification report printed out.
Abts-Follow up memo with email to staff so that they know they have until the 21st, but submission of grades at an earlier date will greatly ease Joellen's workload.
D. No SGT Meeting Tuesday 6/15
E. Principle search committee:
Klug-talking with Shirley Wilson and will continue working with her over the summer. Will give us an update.
